Biography

Diana Cherry has been a resident of Springfield since 1977. She was admitted to the bar in 1976, and subsequently admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit.
Before coming to our firm, Ms. Cherry served as Assistant Defender in the Office of the State Appellate Defender. Ms. Cherry began as an associate in our firm in 1986. She was named partner in 1993.
Ms. Cherry’s primary area of practice is in family law, but she also handles criminal cases, personal injury and other civil matters, at both the trial and appellate levels. Her experience in family law includes complex financial matters and custody disputes. She has handled over one hundred appellate cases, in the Third, Fourth and Fifth Appellate Districts of Illinois, the Supreme Court of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She is a past president of the Lincoln Douglas Inn of Court and the Central Illinois Women’s Bar Association. She is also a member of the Sangamon County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Biography

Originally from Pittsfield, Illinois, Rick Frazier has resided in Springfield since 1986. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University in 1983. Mr. Frazier went on to earn his law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1986. At SUI-C, he served as an assistant to Professor Harold W. Hannah.
After completion of his law degree, Mr. Frazier was an attorney for the Office of the State Appellate Defender until 1989. Following his tenor with the Office of the State Appellate Defender, Mr. Frazier joined the law firm of Metnick & Barewin and was named partner in 1995. That firm has evolved into the current named partnership.
Along with representing individual clients in personal injury, family law matters, general and civil litigation, and felony and misdemeanor criminal charges, Mr. Frazier also handles a wide range of other legal cases.

Biography

Scott Sabin, a Michigan native, has made Springfield his home since 1993. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1989; and went on to earn his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1992.
Sabin has earned a fine reputation among his clients and colleagues. Scott represents many of the firm’s clients charged with D.U.I., criminal misdemeanors and criminal felonies at both the state and federal levels and in Secretary of State licensure reinstatement hearings. Sabin also represents clients in DCFS Administrative proceedings, Order of Protection hearings and Family Court. Sabin is admitted to practice in the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of the U.S. District Courts.

Sabin is a member of several Illinois bar associations, as well as the Missouri state bar. Mr. Sabin is former President of the Sangamon County Bar Association, as well as past President of the Sangamon County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Mr. Sabin also sits on numerous Boards including the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys where he regularly meets with other attorneys to review proposed legislation, to comment on recent developments and to provide continuing legal education.
